MANCHESTER, England – Actor Hugh Grant says he hopes Britain’s premier will deliver on his vow to reform the media following the country’s tabloid phone hacking scandal. Grant, who played a prime minister in the hit movie “Love Actually,” met with David Cameron Tuesday at the governing Conservative Party’s annual convention.
The actor said he had wanted to speak with Cameron to learn if he was “a man of principle, or whether he was just sounding good” when he demanded an overhaul of press standards. Grant famously tangled with Britain’s tabloids in 1995 after he featured heavily on their front pages following his arrest in the United States for lewd conduct with a prostitute. The actor says he suspects both he and former girlfriend Jemima Khan had their cell phone voice mail messages intercepted by journalists.
