Woman scares bear away with zucchini
HELENA, UNITED STATES – A woman in Montana managed to scare a bear away using a large piece of zucchini. The bear was trying to break into the woman’s house, but she managed to scare it away by using a large piece of zucchini from her garden, also her dog helped her by fighting the bear.
Both the dog and the owner managed to get away with just minor scratches and the 200-pound bear ran away scared by the zucchini. The attack took place at midnight when the woman was letting her three dogs into the backyard before heading to bed. Apparently the bear was nearby eating apples from a tree when the three dogs started to bark since they spotted it. The dogs ran away and the only one that remained by its owner’s side was an old Collie that was not very mobile. The bear was on top of the dog battling it back and forth.
This is what Missoula County Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Maricelli said to the Authorities “She kicked the bear with her left leg as hard as she could, and she said she felt like she caught it pretty solidly under the chin.” The woman was scared and tried to rush back into her house, but the bear‘s head and shoulder got stuck through the doorway, then the woman held the door with her right hand and grabbed a 14 inch zucchini with her left hand.
After she started to hit the bear with the zucchini it ran away. Maricelli added: “She was very, very shaken, and it kind of took the humor portion out of it for me. She said it had this horrific growl and was snarling. (But) she can see the humor in it, and she wanted the story put out so the local residents can take precautionary measures.”
