A Swiss woman was allegedly gang-raped by eight-men in central India on Friday night. The woman, 39, and her husband were camping in a forest in Madya Pradesh after having spent the day cycling around the temple town of Orchha. The eight men attacked the couple and gang-raped the woman, reports NY Daily News. They then fled the scene with the couple’s mobile phone, a laptop computer and 10,000 rupes.
The 39-year-old lady, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed, was taken to a hospital in the city of Gwalior where she received medical attention. Thirteen men have been detained and questioned in connection with the rape. Six of them have been released. Swiss diplomats have urged Indian authorities to do everything within their power to find the perpetrators and resolve the “deeply disturbing” case as quickly as possible.
