Girlfriend dumped boyfriend, and he wins lottery

Matthew Breach

BATTLE, UK – A lorry driver got dumped by his girlfriend and to cheer himself up he scooped £17.8 million on the National Lottery has said that he only bought the winning ticket on a whim as he stopped off to buy a pint of milk. Matthew Breach, 37, from Battle, East Sussex, won the windfall on Wednesday after he matched six numbers in the Lotto triple rollover jackpot. Mr Breach, who has played the lottery ever since it began always using the same numbers, said his winning ticket was from random numbers. He said: “I stopped to buy a pint of milk on my way home from work and got four lucky dips as well… I do two lines on a Saturday, and two on a Wednesday, which I’ve always done, and these were just extras.” Expressing his disbelief at winning the jackpot he said: “I just still feel like it’s a dream and it’s not real, and I keep pinching myself all the time and checking my phone to make sure the numbers are there, and they are.”
